NEW YORK - JANUARY 19: Robert "Joe" Halderman, the accused blackmailer of David Letterman, sits in a courtroom after Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon threw out an attempt stop the case January 19, 2010 in New York City. Halderman's lawyers attempted to have search warrants suppressed in an effort to squelch an attempted grand larceny charge against Halderman, but the judge ruled against him, putting the case on a path towards trial. Halderman is accused of trying to extort two million dollars from Letterman in exchange for information about his sleeping with a woman on his staff. (Photo by Mariela Lombard-Pool/Getty Images)
